Arsenal reportedly give Mikel Arteta conditions as sacking deadline gets revealed

Mikel Arteta is under close scrutiny and serious pressure to keep his job after a dreadful start to the new season.

Arsenal have lost back-to-back League games while failing to score against Brentford and Chelsea for the first time in history and look likely to lose a third consecutive Premier League game at Manchester City on Saturday.

This comes after a poor preseason where the Gunners managed to win only two of six friendlies. A 2-0 home defeat to Chelsea has gotten many Arsenal fans calling for the Spaniard to quit the job.

Arteta has had a somewhat difficult 20-month stint as Arsenal manager, he has guided the club to back-to-back eighth place finishes that recently made Arsenal miss out on European football for the first time in over two decades.

The Arsenal board are now reportedly monitoring his work closely and have given him until the second international break in October to turn the tides according to a report from The Telegraph.

In that period Arsenal have five League fixtures against Manchester City, Norwich, Burnley, Spurs, and Brighton as well as a Carabao cup match against West Brom on Wednesday.

The same report claims former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte is at the forefront for the job should Arteta get the sack. Conte has been touted by many as the right man for the job.
