Five alternatives Arsenal could look to after missing out on Raphinha

The Gunners will not enter a bidding war with Barcelona and Chelsea for the Brazilian winger.

Arsenal appear to have ended their pursuit of Leeds and Brazil winger Raphinha. The Gunners haven’t met Leeds’ £60m asking price for the 25-year-old.

Raphinha is waiting for Barcelona to match Chelsea’s bid in excess of £55m which was accepted by Leeds however, Raphinha favours a move to the Catalan giants as his first choice.

Here are five alternatives Arsenal could pursue in the transfer market.

Serge Gnabry

Gnabry has been linked with a sensational return to Arsenal. He is currently unsettled at Bayern Munich with contract talks hitting an impasse.

The German champions would reportedly accept a €40m for Gnabry however, Arsenal would have to convince and meet his hefty wage demands reported to be around £250,000-a-week.

Arsenal fans have been craving for Gnabry’s return.

Gnabry would be perfect for Arteta’s plans, he can comfortably operate on both wings and can also play in a central role.

Noa Lang

Reports from Spain state that the Dutch winger in Arteta’s “plan B” after missing out on Raphinha. Lang is also capable of playing on either wings.

The 23-year-old recorded an impressive 19 goal contributions across 31 league games last season and would be the cheapest alternative. Club Brugge’s reported valuation is just €30m for the tricky winger.

Cody Gakpo

Another exciting winger Arsenal could pursue is PSV and Netherlands international Cody Gakpo. The 23-year-old primarily is a left-winger but can play on the right and in a central position.

Gakpo had 12 goals and 13 assists in 27 league appearances and his price tag is believed to be under £45m.

Moussa Diaby

Bayern Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby is another option the Gunners could consider. The pacey winger’s preferred position is on the left-wing despite being left-footed.

Diaby scored 17 goals across all competitions and got 14 assists as well, the French talent is valued at about £50m.

Wilfried Zaha

Zaha was once close to joining Arsenal before the club opted to sign Nicolas Pepe for a record fee. The 29-year-old can play in any of the attacking positions.

The Crystal Palace and Ivorian winger would easily guarantee double figures of goals and bring in much needed experience to the team.
