Arsenal appointed Mikel Arteta a few years back as their new manager and the Spanish coach has for the first time opened up about being inevitably sacked.
Mikel Arteta retired from football in the summer of 2016 to immediately go and join the coaching world, and the Spaniard later joined Pep Guardiola at Manchester City to become one of the assistant coaches of the former Barcelona coach. The gunners came calling four years later after they sacked Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta got appointed as the new boss of the North Londoners.
Mikel Arteta’s career at Arsenal has had a lot of ups and downs as he came to the Emirates Stadium to find a club that was so disjointed and unmotivated but he has however in the last two years transformed the North Londoners into a formidable force that is now first on the Premier League table. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has however opened up about what coaches have to bear and says that each one of them always has the fear of getting sacked.
“As a manager, probably it’s the (biggest) fear of getting sacked. I made a very conscious decision the day I made the decision to become a coach – I said: ‘It will happen. Today, tomorrow, in a month’s time, in 10 years’ time. I don’t know when it will happen.” Arteta said on Michael Calvin’s Football People podcast.
“That cannot drive my emotion and this cannot be the reason why I do certain things or not. For me now the fear is to let people down.”
Mikel Arteta will however this time probably feel safe as Arsenal have been one of the best clubs in Europe this season as they have only lost twice since the season begun.
