Moises Caicedo, the 21-year-old midfielder for Brighton & Hove Albion, is urging his club to let him go after Arsenal expressed interest in signing him and even made a bid that was rejected. Caicedo has been a standout player for Brighton since joining the club in January 2021, and his impressive performances have caught the eye of many top clubs.
The Ecuadorian international has made it clear that he wants to take up this “magnificent opportunity” and move to Arsenal. He said:
“I am grateful to Mr. Bloom and Brighton for giving me the chance to come to the Premier League and I feel I have always done my best for them. I always play football with a smile and with heart. I am the youngest of 10 siblings from a poor upbringing in Santa Domingo in Ecuador.” Moises Caicedo wrote on Twitter.
“My dream always to be the most decorated player in the history of Ecuador. I am proud to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton which would allow them to reinvest it and help the club continue to be successful.”
“The fans have taken me into their hearts and they will always be in my heart so I hope they can understand why I want to take up this magnificent opportunity.”
Caicedo has been an integral part of Brighton’s midfield since joining from Independiente del Valle in 2021, making 26 appearances across all competitions so far this season. He has also become an important member of Ecuador’s national team.
The 21-year-old is now hoping that Brighton will allow him to pursue his dream of playing at one of Europe’s biggest clubs by granting him a move away from the Amex Stadium. It remains unclear whether or not Arsenal will make a second bid for Caicedo after having had the first one rejected, but if they do then it is likely that Brighton will demand a hefty fee since they don’t want to lose him in this January transfer window.
Regardless of what happens next, Moises Caicedo has made it clear that he is ready for a new challenge at Arsenal if given the opportunity, as he looks set on becoming one of Ecuador’s greatest ever players.

Am proud of our Arteta because of the way he has managed the club. He has brought in useful players to boost our performance. It's nice to see what Arteta has done. Even poor/weak players have been improved but mainly they improved as a result of improved system.
