Arsenal fan’s most hated former player claims gunners will win the Premier League

Arsenal have been one of the best teams in Europe this season and a former Premier League star that's hated by gooners has tipped them to win the league this season.

Former Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie has tipped his former club to win the Premier League this season. The Dutchman, who became a villain among Arsenal fans after leaving the club for Manchester United in 2012, believes that the Gunners have what it takes to lift the trophy this year.

Arsenal are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table with 69 points after 28 games. They are closely followed by second-placed Manchester City, who have 61 points and a game in hand. With just ten games left to play, every point counts and Van Persie believes that Arsenal have shown they have what it takes to be champions.

“If you look at this period of time, this is where every single point really counts,” Van Persie said. “They’ve had a couple of difficult games, they got the three points, so that’s what a champions team is made of.” Van Persie told Sky Sports.

Van Persie knows what it takes to win the Premier League having lifted the trophy with Manchester United in 2013. He was also part of an Arsenal team that came close to winning the title in 2008 but ultimately fell short.

Arsenal fans may still hold a grudge against Van Persie for leaving the club for their bitter rivals Manchester United but his prediction will be welcomed by many. The Gunners have not won the Premier League since 2004 and their fans are desperate for success.

Manager Mikel Arteta has done an impressive job since taking over from Unai Emery in 2019. He has instilled a new sense of belief in his players and has them playing some exciting football. The likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka have been in fine form this season and will be key if Arsenal are to win their first title in over 15 years.

However, there is still a long way to go and Arsenal will face tough tests in the coming weeks. They have games against Liverpool and Manchester City still to come and will need to be at their best if they are to come out on top.

But with Van Persie backing them, Arsenal fans will be feeling confident that this could finally be their year.
