How many points do Arsenal need to win the League with 10 games to go?

The Premier League season has entered its final stage with the Gunners heading into the international break with a comfortable lead.

Arsenal head into the international break with an eight point lead over their closest challenger Manchester City after a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s side have managed to win six Premier league games in a row, the longest win streak this season after an unpleasant February that saw the Gunners slip to second momentarily for the first time this season.

Although Arsenal and its faithful have chosen to stay focused on each game at a time, it is difficult not to look at the end of the tunnel especially now the season heads for its decisive stage.

As things stand Arsenal have 69 points from 28 games while their only threat to the title Manchester City have 61 points from 27 games.

Traditionally the team that reaches 90 points has won the title however, recent title races have been highly competitive and gone down to the wire. In the 2018/19 season Liverpool accumulated 97 points but unfortunately that wasn’t enough to claim the title while last season the title race went to the wire again with Manchester City getting the better of Liverpool 93-92.

That goes to show that Pep Guardiola’s side are capable of taking the title race down to the wire, having won four League titles in the last five seasons.

To reach the 90 point mark which has usually been enough to become English champions, the Gunners need 21 points from their remaining 10 fixtures. This would equate to seven wins from the remaining 10 matches.

However, for the title to be guaranteed in Arsenal’s hands they would have to win nine out of the 10 games left to reach a total of 96 points which would assure the Gunners of their first League title in nearly 20 years.

95 points would guarantee Arsenal the title since Manchester City can only accumulate a maximum of 94 points if they happened to win all of their 11 league games.

Arsenal’s 10 crucial games include a showdown against Manchester City at the Etihad stadium on April 26, which could potentially decide who takes the title. Arteta will be hoping his side head into this fixture with at least a four point advantage over City so that regardless of the outcome his side remains top heading into the final five fixtures of the campaign.
