Revealed: How Arsenal lost the Premier League title starting in April

Arsenal has mathematically lost the Premier League to Manchester City and we take a look at how the gunners lost the title starting from April.

Arsenal’s hopes of winning the Premier League title this season have been dashed in the last two months of the campaign. The Gunners were in a fierce battle with Manchester City for the top spot, but a series of disappointing results saw them slip down the table and ultimately lose out on the title to their rivals.

Arsenal had been leading the league table for 10 months this season, but their form took a turn for the worse in April and May. In their last nine games, they won just three, drew three and lost three. This poor run of form saw them drop crucial points and allowed Manchester City to overtake them in the race for the title.

Arsenal’s results since April:

Arsenal 4-1 Leeds
Liverpool 2-2 Arsenal
West Ham 2-2 Arsenal
Arsenal 3-3 Southampton
Manchester City 4-1 Arsenal
Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea
Newcastle 0-2 Arsenal
Arsenal 0-3 Brighton
Nottingham Forest 1-0 Arsenal

The turning point in Arsenal’s season came in their 37th game week when they suffered a shock defeat to Nottingham Forest. The Gunners were expected to win comfortably against a team that was fighting relegation, but they were unable to break down Forest’s stubborn defence and ended up losing 1-0.

This defeat proved to be costly as it allowed Manchester City to immediately be declared the Premier League Champions.

Arsenal’s lack of squad depth also played a role in their downfall. Unlike Manchester City who have a strong bench filled with quality players, Arsenal struggled when they had to rotate their squad due to injuries and fatigue.

In conclusion, Arsenal’s failure to win the Premier League title this season can be attributed to a combination of factors including injuries, poor defending and lack of squad depth. While they can take solace in finishing second, it will be a bitter pill to swallow for a team that had led the league table for most of the season. The Gunners will need to regroup and come back stronger next season if they hope to win their first Premier League title since 2004.
