Arteta reveals the person in football that he thinks about everyday

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has opened up to the person in football that he thinks about everyday in his managerial life.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has recently revealed the person in football that he thinks about every day, and it comes as no surprise that it is his former mentor and legendary Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger.

In a recent interview with TNT Sports, Arteta expressed his deep admiration and respect for Wenger, stating, “There is not a single day that I don’t think of him, especially now he’s very present inside the building, that’s something I wanted to bring back.”

Arteta’s words highlight the profound impact Wenger has had on his career and how he continues to influence him even today. The Spaniard played under Wenger at Arsenal from 2011 to 2016 before retiring and transitioning into coaching. He then returned to the club in December 2019 as head coach.

ARSENE WENGER AND MIKEL ARTETA

Wenger’s presence at the club has been instrumental in Arteta’s development as a manager. The Frenchman currently serves as FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development but maintains close ties with Arsenal. Arteta acknowledges this connection and emphasizes the importance of having Wenger around.

“The fact he’s closer to the team and the other day when he was around all the people, I got really emotional because he fully deserves that recognition,” Arteta said. “He needs to be able to come here any day, open, put the red carpet to him and walk; he needs to feel that.”

Arteta’s words reflect not only his gratitude towards Wenger but also his desire to honor his legacy at Arsenal. He recognizes Wenger’s immense contribution to the club during his 22-year tenure, which included three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup victories.

Wenger revolutionized English football with his innovative tactics and emphasis on nurturing young talent. His philosophy greatly influenced Arteta during their time together at Arsenal, shaping him both as a player and now as a manager.

Arteta has already shown promising signs since taking charge of Arsenal. Under his guidance, the team won the FA Cup in his first season and followed it up with the Community Shield triumph. The gunners then finished second last season and then won the Community Shield once again this year. His tactical acumen and ability to instill a strong team spirit have been evident on the pitch.

However, Arteta’s admiration for Wenger goes beyond footballing achievements. It is a testament to the personal connection they share and the profound impact Wenger has had on his life.

As Arteta continues to lead Arsenal into a new era, he carries with him Wenger’s teachings and values. The presence of his mentor within the club serves as a constant reminder of what can be achieved through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to playing attractive football.
