Arsenal Football Club has released a statement urging its fans to vote for their manager Mikel Arteta as the Premier League manager of the month (MOTM) for October. The gunners had a strong month, winning two and drawing one of their three Premier League games, maintaining their unbeaten start to the 2023/24 campaign.
The statement on Arsenal’s website highlights Arteta’s achievements in October, which saw the team defeat Manchester City 1-0 at Emirates Stadium, recover from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Chelsea, and thrash Sheffield United 5-0. These results have propelled Arsenal to second place on the Premier League table with 24 points.
Arteta is up against Ange Postecoglu of Tottenham Hotspur, Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool, and Unai Emery of Aston Villa for the prestigious award. Postecoglu has won the award for the first two months of the season, and could make it a hat-trick with his team’s impressive performances against Luton Town, Fulham, and Crystal Palace.
Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp and Aston Villa’s Unai Emery are also strong contenders for the award, having both taken seven points from their three games in October. Currently occupying spots in the top five of the table, they have proven to be tough opponents for any team.
Fans can vote for Mikel Arteta on this link provided on Arsenal’s website until Monday, November 6 at midday UK time. The winner will be announced shortly after and will receive the award in recognition of their outstanding performance in October.
In addition to their Premier League success, Arsenal also had a Carabao Cup game against West Ham United at London Stadium, which ended in a 3-1 defeat for the gunners. However, they are determined to bounce back in their next game against Newcastle United at St James Park on Saturday.
