Odegaard tells Arsenal fans to stop what they’ve been doing since Aston Villa game

Arsenal got their second loss of the season against Aston Villa and Martin Odegaard has told gooners to stop what they've been doing since that game.

Arsenal midfielder and captain Martin Odegaard has urged everyone, including Arsenal fans, not to solely blame their loss against Aston Villa on the match officials for ruling out Kai Havertz’s goal. Odegaard emphasized the importance of focusing on themselves and analyzing what they could have done better in the game.

Speaking to The Standard, Odegaard said, “We have to look at ourselves, look at what we could have done better, and I think especially in front of the goal, we should have done a bit better and controlled the game more effectively in certain periods.”

Despite feeling that they did enough to get a result, Odegaard acknowledged the need to be more ruthless in front of goal. He admitted to missing a few big chances himself and expressed frustration over it. However, he emphasized that the team can only work hard to improve and bounce back in their next game.

In the match against Aston Villa, Arsenal suffered their second league defeat of the season. Villa’s captain, John McGinn, scored the only goal of the game just seven minutes in. While Arsenal had opportunities to equalize, including a disallowed goal by Bukayo Saka and a ruled-out goal by Havertz, they were unable to find the back of the net.

The defeat saw Villa set a new club record of 15 consecutive home wins in the league. Despite the loss, Arsenal remain in 2nd position on the Premier League table, with Villa now just one point behind them.

Arsenal’s focus now shifts to their crucial UEFA Champions League match against PSV. The absence of Gabriel Martinelli due to illness will be a major setback for the team. However, Odegaard’s words highlight the importance of collective strength and resilience as Arsenal aims to overcome this hurdle and secure a positive result in their European campaign.
