Mikel Arteta provides an update on Takehiro Tomiyasu’s injury

Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta has given an encouraging update on the injury status of right back Takehiro Tomiyasu, who has been sidelined with a calf injury for the past three weeks. Arteta expressed his optimism about Tomiyasu’s recovery, stating, “He’s very close, he’s already doing something on the grass & hopefully we’re going to have him very close with us.” These words from Arteta indicate that Tomiyasu is progressing well in his rehabilitation and is on the cusp of making a return to the squad.

Tomiyasu’s absence due to the calf injury has been felt in Arsenal’s defensive line, underlining his significance to the team’s structure and defensive solidity. As the Gunners push forward in the Premier League, the potential return of Tomiyasu offers a boost to Arteta’s defensive options and provides added strength to the squad as they strive to maintain their strong position in the league standings.

Currently occupying the 3rd position on the Premier League table with 61 points accumulated from 27 league matches in the ongoing 2023/24 season, Arsenal’s recent dominant performance in a 6-0 triumph over Sheffield United showcased their attacking prowess and resilience. With a forthcoming encounter against Brentford scheduled at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, 9th March, 2024, Arteta’s insight on Tomiyasu’s recovery signifies a positive development for the Gunners as they gear up for upcoming challenges.

As Arsenal brace for the Brentford showdown in their next league fixture, the potential reinstatement of Tomiyasu represents a favorable step in fortifying the team’s defensive capabilities. Arteta’s optimistic update on Tomiyasu’s condition bodes well for Arsenal’s defensive structure and their ambitions to secure vital points as they continue their quest for success in the Premier League campaign.
