Arsene Wenger finished 22 years at the North London club and the Frenchman has faced strong criticism from the Arsenal supporters who have called for his resignation for years and he finally gave up this year so he has also revealed what made him do that decision.
Arsene Wenger resigned from his position as Arsenal manager at the end of the 2017/18 season after many protests from the fans who were fed up with the reign of the Frenchman who had spent 22 years at the North London club.
There has been numerous speculations to what the main reason Arsene Wenger resigned from his position just one year before his contract ended, something which he had never done in his managerial career. Arsenal legend Ian Wright said that the Frenchman was sacked not resigning just because they didn’t want to embarrass him yet he had done a lot for the club.
Arsene Wenger has however revealed more about why he made the decision to resign from his position in April and says that the fans were impatient of him;
“When you’re such a long time there, there’s impatience. We were used to always huge success but nothing was good enough anymore.” Wenger told beIN Sports.
“Even this season we played in the League Cup final, the semi final of the Europa League and didn’t deserve to go out. ”
“Even if we won the Europa League, I could feel there was an impatience that was definite.”
Arsene Wenger could agree that they were no longer patient with the Frenchman because he used to make promises which he failed to fulfil often. The manager believes that the fans would still not be happy with him even if they won the Europa League which everyone kept all their hopes of success there.
