Arsenal: Why Unai Emery was right to bench Mesut Ozil

Arsenal made a trip to the Vitality Stadium to face Bournemouth on Sunday and the gunners won the match 2-1 even though Mesut Ozil played 0 minutes in that game. Arsenal fans were not happy with the decision to leave Ozil on the bench but here’s a few reasons which shows that Unai Emery was right.

MESUT OZIL DOESN’T IMPRESS IN MATCHES WITH HIGH TEMPO

Mesut Ozil has been at Arsenal for five years and he is an exceptional player but we all know that the German international doesn’t impress in matches which have high intensity, those matches don’t give him a chance to show his creativity.

The match between Arsenal and Bournemouth had a lot of tempo especially in the second half, if he was on the pitch we wouldn’t be noticed since the Cherries had put the gunners on pressure. Even though Mkhitaryan wasn’t that impressive, he is a hardworking player that can manage high tempo games.

PHYSICAL MATCHES GIVE MESUT OZIL A HARD TIME

Mesut Ozil goes missing in matches which are physical but even though calling him lazy is so disrespectful but the truth is his playing style doesn’t favour him when the opponents are physical like Bournemouth.

ARSENAL NEEDS OZIL FOR THE NORTH LONDON DERBY

Maybe Unai Emery didn’t leave Mesut Ozil because of the above reasons. Unai Emery might have rested the German international because they are facing Spurs next. And if it’s because of that, then it was a good idea because the gunners will need all their star players to be available for the North London Derby.

Remember that Lacazette also missed the Bournemouth match because of a groin injury, and Mesut Ozil didn’t train at halftime with his teammates and this kinda of shows that he knew that he wouldn’t play.
