Granit Xhaka Hints At When He Will Leave Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has been at the Emirates Stadium for 2 years but he performed poorly last season as the gunners finished in the sixth position hence going to the UEFA Europa League for the second time. The Swiss international has been a regular this season because Unai Emery trusts him more than his other central midfielders.

Granit Xhaka has made many mistakes in his career at that Emirates Stadium and was at fault on Sunday last week when the gunners faced Wolves, he gave away the ball which led to them conceding a goal which helped the visitors to play a defensive game comfortably. Xhaka has been selected in the Swiss squad that will play their upcoming international games, the Arsenal midfielder was asked if he would return to his former club (Basel), he said yes but said that not until he is in 30’s.

“It won’t be the case at 28. It’ll probably be more like Alex Frei, who’s the best example of how to do it, he came back once he was in his thirties, but still performed and helped FCB win a few titles.” Granit Xhaka told Basellandschaftliche Zeitung.

“Of course, the expectations are high when you come back again, but it is clearly a dream.”

Granit Xhaka is now 26 years old and his current contract at the Emirates Stadium will probably see him leave the North London club in 2023. So accurately depending on the age of the Swiss international, he might make a return to Basel when he is in his 30’s but for now, he is still gunner for the next five years.

Some Arsenal fans don’t like Granit Xhaka because he is always faulty in the midfield and the team later suffers because of his mistakes but he however is also an important member of Unai Emery’s squad because he helps in attacking moments.
