Leno reveals how Arsenal can still get a top four finish

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno says that they could still get a Premier League top four finish if they get back the right mentality.

The gunners have been awful this season as they’ve found themselves in the bottom half of the table by Christmas but their first choice goalkeeper Bernd Leno believes that they could still get a Premier League top four finish in this campaign.

Arsenal started the season well, winning their first two matches but they started their collapse by giving away a 2 nil lead against Watford and the next couple of results led to the sacking of Unai Emery. Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Everton means that they are now nine points off fourth placed Chelsea who beat Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

Arsenal was very close to getting a Premier League top four spot last season but they however collapsed at the end, losing three consecutive matches hence finishing in the fifth position. Bernd Leno believes that what’s gone wrong this season isn’t just tactics and quality and claims that they just need to get back the right mentality, so that they can start getting wins since they will get more chances to enter the UEFA Champions League spots.

“Of course, because there are still many games. We play against all the top six. We have a lot of opportunities to win against them. We still believe. It is in our hands.” Bernd Leno told Evening Standard.

“We have to show [the right] mentality, we have to play good football and I think we will have opportunities.”

“When we just speak about tactics or quality or what was in the past, it doesn’t matter. If we work hard, get back our strong mentality, then I am confident we can reach our target.”

Arsenal will be hoping that the appointment of Mikel Arteta will be able to spearhead them into a Premier League top four finish this season because the club can’t afford another season without Champions League football.
