Ceballos, Mari and Cedric are at Arsenal on loan deals expiring at the end of June and football might have not returned by then but FIFA have however addressed this situation.
The Premier League got suspended one month ago and there isn’t a return date for now because the health officials aren’t sure when the virus will finally be eradicated since it spreads so quickly. There is currently a lot of uncertainty in football due to the leagues getting cancelled and one of them is players on loan, the gunners currently have Dani Ceballos, Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares.
Arsenal completed the signing of Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid on a season long loan and the gunners obviously will not want to lose him before all their games are done as he is a regular starter in Mikel Arteta’s team. Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares are also at Arsenal on a loan deal and the contracts of these three players will probably be ending on the 30th of June and the 2019/20 season might not be over by the time we reach that date.
FIFA has however released a statement about this very issue and it says that the contracts of the players whose deal end at the end of this season will be extended for a short period so that the 2019/20 season can be completed as the months of no football will need to be compensated. A statement from FIFA’s website read.
“Expiring player contracts usually end when the season ends, with a termination date that coincides with the end of the season. With the current suspension of play in most countries, it is now obvious that the current season will not end when people thought it would.” read the statement from FIFA.
“Therefore, it is proposed that contracts be extended until such time that the season does actually end. This should be in line with the original intention of the parties when the contract was signed and should also preserve sporting integrity and stability.”
“A similar principle applies to contracts due to begin when the new season starts, meaning the entry into force of such contracts is delayed until the next season actually does start.”
And so Arsenal and all the Premier League clubs that have players on loan who have contracts ending at the end of this season will not be letting them leave like that as seasons will need to be completed.
