Mikel Arteta reveals how he suffered in his first weeks as Arsenal boss

Mikel Arteta was appointed as Arsenal's new head coach in December last year and he has today opened up on the tough first few weeks on the job.

Arsenal appointed Mikel Arteta as their new head coach in December, 2019 which was a month after they had sacked Unai Emery. The former Arsenal midfielder took charge of the club after having worked under Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola for three years and the gunners are hoping that they’ve this time got it right. Arteta has spoken out on how he suffered in his first few weeks atthe club.

Arsenal looked like a team that had given up under Unai Emery as the gunners finished two months without a Premier League win and even though Freddie Ljungberg managed to get a win over West Ham United, the following results were embarrassing as the gunners continued to play poorly until Mikel Arteta was then later brought in and has in these first few months stabilised the club apart from the UEFA Europa League collapse in the game against Olympiacos.

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta exclusively talked to Sky Sports recently and he opened up about his very first few weeks at the Emirates Stadium and he says that everything was a complete mess as he had many first team players, zero connection between the fans and the players but he however says that he had to change that and is happy with the current positive mindset.

“I went through a lot when I got here… I had eight or 10 players injured, and there were a lot of issues to deal with. The connection between fans, players and club was in a difficult state at that moment. We had to change that energy, the belief and the commitment from the players.” said Arteta

“I was very pleased because everyone was on board with what we were doing. We started to win three or four games in a row and there was a much more positive mindset around the place.”

Arsenal had started to pick up some sort of form but the Premier League was however brought to a halt due to the COVID-19 epidemic but the fans will be hoping that Arteta and his men pick up from where they left.
