Arsene Wenger fires shots at Emery in his latest show of support to Arteta

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has backed Mikel Arteta to succeed at the Emirates Stadium while indirectly firing shots at Unai Emery.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger managed the club for more than 20 years and made the North London club well known for playing attractive, fast and free flowing football. Wenger finally said goodbye to the Arsenal fans in 2018 and was replaced by Unai Emery.

Even though Unai Emery had an impressive start to life as an Arsenal head coach, it however soon became clear that he wouldn’t be able to play the same football that the gunners were playing under Arsene Wenger but he however still finished off the season with a fifth place in the league and got them to a European final.

Unai Emery struggled this season and the gunners were playing horrible football under him and the club decided to part ways with him in November and appointed Mikel Arteta as his replacement a month later. Arteta has shown and said that he will try to bring back that attractive football that the club has been known for in the last two decades and Arsene Wenger has said that he hopes that the Spaniard brings it back while indirectly firing shots at Unai Emery since the former PSG boss’ football was considered to be dull.

“I worry about the club still a lot. There’s a culture and a way to play football at Arsenal that I want to be respected. I hope Mikel can get that back.” Arsene Wenger told TalkSport.

The Arsenal fans will also be hopeful that Mikel Arteta bring back the attractive football because that was one of their biggest criticism of Unai Emery since they seemed to be losing their identity under him but the new boss has been clear on how its in one of his top wishes in doing at the club as he has in most interviews claimed that he wants the supporters to feel entertained when watching his side. Arteta played under Arsene Wenger for five years and so it’s no surprise that they would have a similar thoughts on how football should be played.
