Former Arsenal boss gives damning revelation about Mesut Ozil’s poor attitude

Mesut Ozil has been at Arsenal for seven years and he has been one of their best players in the Emirates era but he has however been off form in the last two years and this caused him havoc with his previous head coach Unai Emery. Emery who was sacked by Arsenal last year has spoken out on how the German international has a bad attitude.

Mesut Ozil clashed with Unai Emery in the first few months of the new boss and this saw the 31-year-old miss some matchday squads but he however later returned to the side and started performing well. Ozil was however very poor in the UEFA Europa League final and this earned him a lot of criticism from the fans but they however hoped Emery and him would improve their relationship in the next season but they didn’t.

Mesut Ozil missed the first matches of this season due to the gang attack incident and he however returned for the Watford game and then later stopped being picked in the matchday squads. Unai Emery has now explained his story about how he was doing this and how he wants Mesut Ozil to work on his attitude and how he was hoping to bring him back to his best.

“I spoke a lot with Ozil. He has to be self‑critical too, analyse his attitude and commitment. I tried with all my might to help Ozil. Throughout my career, talented players have reached their best level with me. I was always positive, wanting him to play, be involved.” Emery told The Guardian in an exclusive interview.

“In pre-season I told him I wanted to help recover the best Ozil. I wanted a high level of participation and commitment in the dressing room. I respected him and thought he could help.”

“He could have been a captain but the dressing room didn’t want him to be. That’s not what I decided; that’s what the players decided. Captains are ones who have to keep defending the club, the coach, team-mates.”
