Mikel Arteta speaks out on the game plan he will use against Manchester City

The gunners will this weekend face Manchester City in the FA Cup semi final and Mikel Arteta has spoken out on what gameplan he will use against Liverpool.

The Emirates FA Cup returns this weekend and Arsenal will face Manchester City at the Wembley Stadium with the hope of going to the final. Mikel Arteta has been praised for his impressive win over Liverpool last night and the Spanish boss has spoken out on how he could set up in the game against Manchester City.

The gunners will come into the match against Manchester City with more confidence now since they’ve beaten the Champions but they will also still be afraid of The Citizens as they have lost to them in their last seven matches which is a big concern since they have atleast always had a good result against Liverpool at home but always fall apart in the matches against Pep Guardiola’s men.

Arsenal forced Liverpool to make two mistakes and scored via those opportunities and then spent the rest of the match defending and Arteta was asked in his post-match press conference  if he would use the same game plan against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi finals on Saturday. Arteta did not say that they will defend against Manchester City as they did against Liverpool but claimed that they can beat a lot of teams with belief, accountability and passion and also mentions that they will try to find the balance between defending and attacking against City.

“It wasn’t part of the gameplan obviously [to not see much possession] but at the moment you can see in many areas the gap between the two teams, what we have to achieve and the areas we have to improve.” Mikel Arteta told Arsenal’s official website.

“Certainly there is one area that we’ve caught them on and it’s the belief,  the accountability, the passion… they play for every single ball. With that we can beat a lot of teams.”

“Against Tottenham we had total dominance for several periods and we lost the game, so we will find the right balance but credit for them as well for what they have achieved.”
