Maitland-Niles reveals whether he will leave Arsenal in this summer transfer window

Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles spent the last six months of last season out on loan at West Brom Albion and there has been a lot of speculation on what the future holds for him since he has fallen out of favour of Mikel Arteta. Maitland-Niles has however come out and explained what the future holds for him at Arsenal.

The summer transfer window is now open and there has been some rumours about the future of Ainsley Maitland-Niles at Arsenal since its believed that the gunners will hope to do a big clear out in this window since they will want a smaller squad after having failed to qualify for any European competition. Ainsley Maitland-Niles came from the Arsenal academy and he has in recent years received a lot of play time as a makeshift right back despite considering himself a midfielder.

Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles has for the first time since his loan at West Brom Albion ended opened up on his future claiming that he will not be leaving the North London club this summer as he has two more years on his contract and at least until he talks with the boss about the plans he has for him ahead of the new season.

“I’ve got two years left on my contract so I’m due to be going back there. Obviously once I do go back, I need to speak to the manager and see where he sees me, see what ideas he has and we can move on from there.” Maitland-Niles told Mirror.

“But I hope I can get some clarity for me, as in the player that he sees me, the role he sees me in and we can take it from there.”

“We’ll see what happens but all this free time gets to your head sometimes, thinking when the club is linked with this person, or that person, it gets in your head and swallows you up sometimes.”
