Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has spoken about the potential signing of Kai Havertz, who is reportedly very close to joining the Gunners in this summer transfer window. The 24-year-old German midfielder has been linked with a move away from Chelsea, and Arsenal and Chelsea have reportedly agreed on a £65 million deal that will soon see Havertz come to the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta, who has been vocal about his desire to bring in young and talented players to Arsenal, spoke about Havertz in an interview with Marca. “Talent has a price and at Arsenal, we are always interested in young people with experience,” he said. “I reiterate, I’m not talking about players from other clubs, but in the case of Kai, he has already shown a lot, including a Champions League. He is a talented, versatile player and only 24 years old.”

Havertz scored seven goals and provided one assist in the Premier League last season to help Chelsea finish 12th on the league table. He still has two years remaining on his Chelsea contract but is reportedly keen on a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal had been in a fierce title race with Manchester City in their bid to win the 2022/23 Premier League title. However, a defeat against Nottingham Forest in their 37th game week saw them lose the trophy to The Citizens. Arsenal ended the season with 84 points while Manchester City finished with 89 points. Manchester City are this year’s Premier League champions.

Despite finishing second in the league table after leading for ten months this season, Arteta remains optimistic about Arsenal’s future prospects. “We have made great strides this season,” he said. “We have shown that we can compete at the highest level and we will continue to do so.”

The potential signing of Havertz would be a major boost for Arsenal as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. Havertz is a highly-rated midfielder who has been linked with some of Europe’s top clubs, and his arrival would signal Arsenal’s intent to challenge for major honours in the coming years.

Overall, Arsenal fans will be eagerly awaiting news of Havertz’s potential arrival at the Emirates Stadium, and Arteta’s comments suggest that the Gunners are serious about bringing in top-quality players to help them compete at the highest level.
