As Arsenal narrowly missed out on the Premier League title to Manchester City in 2023-24, the Gunners can look back with pride on their 89-point haul and a campaign filled with promise. However, to finally break their title drought, Mikel Arteta’s side will need to replicate a key ingredient of their last campaign: their almost impenetrable away form.

Arsenal kept an astounding 11 clean sheets away from home in 2023-24, setting a new club record for shutouts on the road in a single Premier League season. This defensive resilience, characterized by disciplined teamwork and tactical flexibility, was instrumental in securing crucial points against challenging opponents.

The ability to grind out results, even when not playing their most fluent football, was a hallmark of champions-in-waiting. While Arsenal’s home form was generally strong, it was their ability to transform into a defensively sound unit on their travels that truly set them apart.

Maintaining this defensive solidity away from the Emirates Stadium will be paramount to their title aspirations in the coming season. Teams will be acutely aware of Arsenal’s attacking threat, making it even more crucial for the Gunners to remain compact and organized at the back.

If Arteta’s men can combine their potent attacking arsenal with the same defensive discipline they displayed on the road last season, they will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with in the 2024-25 title race. The blueprint is there; now it’s up to Arsenal to execute it once again.
