Unai Emery didn't start his attacking trio of Aubameyang, Lacazette and Pepe against Liverpool so here's a few reasons why he didn't use them together from the start.
Arsenal faced Liverpool on Saturday and everyone was eagerly waiting to see the front three of the gunners for the first time together but Unai Emery decided to use only Aubameyang and Pepe, and benched Lacazette. So we take a look as to why Unai Emery didn’t start his attacking trio.
THE FORMATION USED HAD NO PLACE FOR LACAZETTE
The gunners used a 4-3-1-2 formation and this saw the gunners have four midfielders on the pitch and two strikers upfront. The two strikers were Aubameyang and Pepe so there wasn’t any way that Lacazette would have been put in this position unless Unai Emery decided to play him in instead of Dani Ceballos. So basically the formation had no place for a third striker.
UNAI EMERY WANTED TO USE PACY FORWARDS
Arsenal head coach Unai Emery was hoping that the gunners would be able to withstand Liverpool’s constant attacks and then hit the home side on the counter, so since Pepe and Aubameyang are very fast, they both started in this match. Lacazette is a good striker that is very good at holding up play but he however uses a lot of strength and is easily tired so that’s why he didn’t start with Pepe and Aubameyang against Liverpool.
Arsenal will next week face Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium and hopefully, Unai Emery will finally unleash the attacking trio of Aubameyang, Lacazette and Pepe.
