Unai Emery speaks out on Arsenal’s decision to appoint Mikel Arteta

Arsenal confirmed Mikel Arteta as their new head coach a few hours ago and Unai Emery has spoken out on this appointment.

Unai Emery was sacked by Arsenal one month ago after the gunners went on a winless run of seven matches. The gunners have finally replaced him with their former player Mikel Arteta with the hope that he can connect with fans better than Unai.

Unai Emery was appointed as Arsenal’s boss in May, 2018 and he had a successful first season in England as he took the gunners into a European final and also finished fifth in the league. The gunners were hoping that they would build on that this season but things went downhill in this campaign and the gunners went on a winless run of seven matches and that made the board to pull the trigger on the former Paris Saint Germain boss.

Arsenal confirmed Mikel Arteta as their new head coach today and Unai Emery has shown his support for this appointment. The former Arsenal boss also says that Arteta is indeed prepared.

“He really is prepared to make that next jump. He has been at Arsenal before, he’s been in the Premier League and he has been working with Pep Guardiola. I do believe this is a good decision and I would also like it to be a good decision.” Emery told BBC SPORT.

Mikel Arteta will officially begin his duty as the Arsenal head coach on Sunday and this means that he will only be in the stands at the Everton game tomorrow with Freddie Ljungberg taking care of everything in that game.
