Mikel Arteta speaks out on the injuries of Kolasinac and Torreira

The gunners will this weekend face Sheffield United and their boss Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the injuries of Sead Kolasinac and Lucas Torreira.

Arsenal new head coach Mikel Arteta has arrived at the Emirates while the gunners are struggling with injuries and he has also seen a few other players go to the sidelines in his reign like Sead Kolasinac and Lucas Torreira. Hector Bellerin has been out for a long time now as he is yet to beat the hamstring injury that is troubling him.

Sead Kolasinac has played in Arsenal’s last two matches while carrying an injury but it’s been confirmed that he might this time not be able to play against Sheffield United on Saturday and Mikel Arteta has given more insight on the injury of the Bosnian international. If Sead Kolasinac isn’t fit to play at the weekend, then the gunners will be forced to play Bukayo Saka as a fullback as he has done in the past.

“I don’t know, the doctors are assessing him still – he had a normal session yesterday. He has been in some discomfort, we know this season that he had some little niggles, so we have to assess him and see if we can get him fit for Saturday or he will be out.” Mikel Arteta told Arsenal’s official website.

Lucas Torreira has improved massively under Mikel Arteta but he however got injured at halftime in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace last week. The Arsenal fans are very afraid of how long he will be out as he is a very important player and Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the Uruguayan international did train but he however isn’t 100% fit to play.

“Very similar situation. He trained yesterday as well, but still not 100 per cent confident so we will have to wait and see again.” said Arteta.

“It is something related to his hip, producing some pain in the muscle. I don’t know. He is a tough boy, he wants to train, he wants to play and hopefully he will be available for the weekend.”
