Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this month with Fenerbahçe being the most linked club. Arsenal manager Mikel Arleta was pinned in his recent press conference to give an update on Ozil’s future and he explained what he can be able to tell the fans at the moment.

Mesut Ozil was not included in the Arsenal squads for this year’s Premier League and UEFA Europa League and he has in most of that period been saying that he would still finish his contract at Arsenal and not leave in the January transfer window but things seem to have changed in the last few weeks as most reports claim that he could leave the North London club in this winter transfer window.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arleta faced a lot of criticism for leaving out Mesut Ozil from the Premier League squad but he has however been confident in saying that he feels he gave the German international enough chances to show that he still has more to offer to his team. It’s been reported that Ozil will terminate his contract with Arsenal to join Fenerbahçe and Arteta was asked about the future of the 32 year old and he claimed that Edu and the club are having talks about this, and that they need to find the right solution for him.

“Edu and the club are having some conversations about the near future and long-term future. When we know something we will announce it.” Mikel Arleta told Sky Sports.

“We can resolve the situation one way or the other, it is always good to know what you are going to do, what is going to happen. I knew when we made that decision [to leave Ozil out of Arsenal’s squads], the consequences that we could have.”

“We still have to try the right solution for the player and the club and we are trying to do that and let’s see what we get.”
