Declan Rice makes motivational statement after getting his first Arsenal trophy
Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice who arrived in this summer transfer window has made a motivational statement after getting his first trophy with the gunners.
Arsenal’s new signing, Declan Rice, expressed his excitement and eagerness to learn and improve after making his debut in the Community Shield match against Manchester City. The Gunners emerged victorious in a penalty shootout, with Rice playing a crucial role in the team’s performance.
Speaking to The Standard after the game, Rice stated, “I feel like I’ve grown so much in the first few weeks that I have been here.” He acknowledged that there was a lot of information to absorb regarding the manager’s tactics and expectations but emphasized his eagerness to learn and improve. He also expressed confidence in the team’s abilities, saying, “With the team that we have got, the manager, the staff, everyone sewn together we can achieve anything this year.”
Rice’s positive attitude and determination were evident throughout the match. In an excellent first half from Mikel Arteta’s team, featuring three debutants including Rice, Jurrien Timber, and Kai Havertz, Arsenal dominated play but failed to find the back of the net. Havertz had two chances saved by City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega with his feet.
However, City improved after halftime and took the lead through substitute Cole Palmer’s curling shot in the 77th minute. It seemed as though City would secure victory and lift the trophy. But in a dramatic turn of events during second-half stoppage time, Leandro Trossard’s shot deflected off Manuel Akanji and found its way into the net, equalizing for Arsenal.
The match ultimately went to a penalty shootout. After Kevin de Bruyne hit the crossbar for City and Aaron Ramsdale saved Rodri’s spot-kick for Arsenal, Fabion Vieria stepped up to score the winning penalty. This allowed Martin Odegaard to lift the silverware as Arsenal celebrated their comeback victory.
Rice’s arrival at Arsenal has been highly anticipated since his record-breaking transfer from West Ham for £105m. The 24-year-old midfielder has already made a strong impression in his first few weeks at the club, showcasing his skills and adaptability on the pitch.
With Rice’s hunger for improvement and the talented squad at Arsenal, the team looks poised for success in the upcoming season. As Rice concluded, “We just need to stay focused, stay together and enjoy today.” Arsenal fans will undoubtedly be excited to see what the future holds with their new signing playing a key role in their pursuit of silverware.
