Former Arsenal star reveals what makes Mikel Arteta a special manager
Former Arsenal star Hector Bellerin has heaped praise on his former teammate and current Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, describing him as a special coach who is constantly learning and evolving.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Bellerin said, “He’s a coach that is always constantly learning and I think that’s what’s good about him. He’s able to adapt and learn from his mistakes. He’s able to become a new Arteta every season.”
Bellerin also revealed that Arteta showed signs of his coaching abilities even during his playing days. “Since he was a player, he was already coaching some of us. You could see he had great ideas and I remember he used to talk to us about how he thinks the game would go and how we should press and stuff like this and it was great. We all knew that at some point he would step up and be a manager.”
After leaving Arsenal in 2022, Bellerin had brief spells at Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon before eventually settling down at Real Betis in July this year.
Arteta, who took over as Arsenal manager in December 2019, has been praised for his tactical acumen and ability to develop young players. Under his guidance, Arsenal have shown signs of improvement and Bellerin’s comments only add to the growing admiration for the Spanish coach.
