Arteta reveals what he has told his squad after getting beaten by Bayern Munich
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has addressed the media following the disappointing 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. The defeat meant that Bayern secured a spot in the semi-finals, leaving the Gunners out of the competition on aggregate.
Reflecting on the result, Arteta expressed a mixture of disappointment and determination, stating, “Six games to go, two points behind City. We have to go through the pain tonight and tomorrow we must get up with the right attitude and hopefully beat Wolves [on Saturday].” Arteta’s words underline his commitment to regrouping the team swiftly and focusing on upcoming challenges in the Premier League.
The match itself saw both teams struggling to find the back of the net in the first half, with Arsenal’s Martinelli missing a crucial opportunity. Bayern’s dominance grew in the second half, leading to Kimmich’s header sealing their victory. Despite the defeat, Arteta’s side faced difficulties in creating significant goal-scoring chances throughout the game, emphasizing the need for improvement in their offensive play.
Currently positioned 2nd in the Premier League standings, Arsenal will shift their attention to the domestic league, aiming to close the narrow gap with table-toppers Manchester City. Their next test comes against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium, where Arteta will look to rally his team and bounce back from the Champions League disappointment with a resolute performance in the upcoming league fixture.
