Arsenal will be on the lookout for a new centre back in the upcoming summer transfer window and Dayot Upamecano has been one of the names that have been linked with a summer move to the Emirates Stadium. It’s been well known that Arsenal have interest in Upamecano but new reports might have some bad news for the gunners.

Dayot Upamecano has been one of RB Leipzig’s best players this season as the German club was one of the teams competing for the Bundesliga title and have also progressed to the UEFA Champions League quarter finals after defeating Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Dayot Upamecano is a great ball playing centre back that could suit Mikel Arteta’s philosophy and so that’s why Arsenal are interested but they might now have to look elsewhere as the 21 year old has decided to sign a new deal with RB Leipzig as per an exclusive report from German outlet Sport Buzzer.

This has come as a big surprise to not only Arsenal fans but everybody because most reports were saying that even though he might not come to the Emirates Stadium due to low funds, but that he could secure himself a move to another top club such as Real Madrid as they were also interested in the centre back. Upamecano has just one year remaining on his current contract at RB Leipzig and it was believed that the German side would have to sell him before he leaves on a free transfer in 2021.

Arsenal haven’t been linked with many centre backs in these past few weeks but if this report was to turn out to be true then the gooners will have to wait to see who the club brings as Dayot Upamecano seems to have been convinced to stay at his current club.
