Takehiro Tomiyasu speaks out on his transfer to Arsenal and how he rejected Tottenham
The defender has revealed he initially thought his transfer to Arsenal wouldn’t happen.

Takehiro Tomiyasu has revealed that he rejected the chance to sign for Tottenham when he heard of Arsenal’s interest on deadline day of the summer transfer window.
The Japanese international completed a £17m move from Bologna on deadline day and has since featured regularly in Mikel Arteta’s setup.
Tomiyasu was on Arsenal’s radar throughout the summer however, north London rivals Tottenham were also keen on the right-back who can play in central defence.
“I thought I wasn’t able to join Arsenal. I thought I was going to Spurs.” Tomiyasu spoke to DAZN Japan.
“On Deadline Day, I rejected them. Arsenal asked me to join them and I did immediately.”
Arsenal fans will be very pleased with this revelation. The 23-year-old has already become a fan favourite.
