Arteta reveals the real reason why Manchester City stole the league title from Arsenal
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has opened up about the real reason why the gunners lost the Premier League title to Manchester City.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has opened up about the reasons behind the Gunners’ failure to win the Premier League title this season. Despite leading the league table for 10 months, Arsenal’s hopes of winning the title came crashing down in the last two months of the campaign.
Arteta believes that injuries and a lack of depth in the squad were key factors in Arsenal’s failure to maintain their momentum in the final stretch of the season. “When you come to April and May, you need 24 players that are available, fit and playing at their best, full of confidence and ready to go. For many reasons, we haven’t had that,” Arteta told Arsenal Media.
The Gunners defeat in May against Brighton was a significant setback, followed by a disappointing loss to Nottingham Forest. The final nail in Arsenal’s title hopes came in their 37th game week when they suffered a shock defeat to Nottingham Forest. Despite dominating possession and having many attempts on goal, Arsenal were unable to find the back of the net.
Arteta also noted that key moments in the league define whether the moment goes one way or another, and Arsenal did not have those margins going on their side. However, he praised his team’s overall performance this season.
Despite missing out on the title, there are still reasons to be optimistic about Arsenal’s future. Arteta is building a strong team that is capable of competing at the highest level.
In conclusion, injuries and a lack of depth in the squad were key factors in Arsenal’s failure to win the Premier League title this season. Arteta’s comments highlight the importance of having a strong and fit squad in the final stretch of the season.
