Arteta reportedly makes surprising decision on Ben White’s future at Arsenal
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be looking to revamp his squad for next season and the Spaniard has reportedly made a decision on Ben White’s future.

Ben White was one of the standout performers for Arsenal in the 2022/23 Premier League season. The 25-year-old defender played all 38 league games as a right-back, proving to be a surprise success in the position. However, it seems that his long-term future at the club may not be out wide.
According to a report by The Sun, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is unsure if White’s future lies at right-back. The Spaniard is said to be considering using White as a centre-back next season, which is his natural position.
White’s versatility was a key asset for Arsenal last season, as he was able to fill in at right-back due to injuries and suspensions. He impressed in the role, showing his defensive qualities and also contributing going forward with his pace and crossing ability.
However, Arteta may feel that White’s best position is at centre-back, where he can use his height and aerial ability to dominate in the air. With Arsenal looking to strengthen their defence this summer, it will be interesting to see where White fits into their plans.
Despite missing out on the Premier League title this season, Arsenal can take heart from their performances throughout the campaign. They were in a fierce title race with Manchester City for much of the season but ultimately fell short.
A defeat against Nottingham Forest in their 37th game week proved costly for Arsenal, as it allowed Manchester City to open up a five-point lead at the top of the table. Despite winning their final game of the season against Aston Villa, Arsenal had to settle for second place with 84 points.
While it may be disappointing for Arsenal fans not to win the title after leading the league table for 10 months this season, there are plenty of positives to take from their performances. With players like Ben White in their squad, they will be hoping to challenge for major honours next season.
