BREAKING: Arsenal reportedly close in on signing Kai Havertz
Arsenal will be looking to improve their squad in this summer transfer window and a report has now revealed that the gunners are interested in signing Kai Havertz.
Arsenal Football Club has reportedly made an opening proposal to recruit Chelsea midfielder Kai Havertz, according to The Athletic. The Gunners have shown a strong interest in the German international, whose contract with Chelsea still has two years remaining.
Havertz had a decent season with Chelsea, scoring seven goals and providing one assist in the Premier League. However, his team finished 12th on the league table, which was not up to their usual standards. Despite this, Havertz is still considered one of the most promising young talents in Europe.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Havertz is still at an early stage, but it has stepped up in recent days following contact with both Chelsea and the player himself. The Gunners are hoping to add more quality to their midfield as they look to challenge for major honours next season.
Last season, Arsenal were in a fierce title race with Manchester City in a bid to win the 2022/23 Premier League title. However, a defeat against Nottingham Forest in their 37th game week saw them lose the trophy to The Citizens. Arsenal ended the season with 84 points while Manchester City finished with 89 points and were crowned champions.
Despite finishing second in the league table after leading for ten months this season, Arsenal will be looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next season. They have already secured the services of Ben White from Brighton & Hove Albion and are now looking to add more quality players like Havertz.
Havertz would be a great addition to Arsenal’s midfield as he possesses great technical ability and can play multiple positions across midfield. He would also bring creativity and goalscoring threat from midfield which is something that Arsenal have lacked in recent seasons.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will be able to secure Havertz’s signature as there are other clubs interested in him as well. However, if they do manage to sign him, it would be a major coup for the Gunners and would show their ambition to challenge for major honours in the coming seasons.
