Arteta provides update on Jurrien Timber’s worrying injury
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the injury of Jurrien Timber that he sustained in the match against Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the injury of defender Jurrien Timber, who was subbed off in the second half of their 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium.
During the match, Arsenal took a comfortable 2-0 lead into halftime, thanks to goals from Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka. However, in the second half, Timber was forced to leave the pitch due to an injury.
Speaking after the game, Arteta revealed that Timber had initially been assessed by the officials and doctors during halftime and they were satisfied for him to continue playing. However, it became apparent early in the second half that something wasn’t right when Timber made a movement that seemed unusual. As a precautionary measure, Arteta decided to substitute him immediately.
“No, the officials, the doctors, they looked at him (Jurrien Timber) and they were happy to continue,” said Arteta as per Arsenal Media. “Him as well, but straight away in the second half, the first action he made a movement and it was a bit funny so we took him straight out and now we have to assess him to see what he has.”
The extent of Timber’s injury is yet to be determined as further assessments will be carried out by Arsenal’s medical team. The club will be hoping for positive news as they look ahead to their upcoming fixtures.
Despite Timber’s injury setback, Arsenal managed to hold on for a 2-1 victory against Nottingham Forest. Taiwo Awoniyi scored a late goal for Forest in the 82nd minute, setting up an exciting finish to the game.
This win marks Arsenal’s first Premier League victory of the season and puts them among other clubs who have started their campaign with three points. The Gunners will be looking to build on this positive result as they aim for a successful season under Arteta’s guidance.
As for Jurrien Timber, his recovery will be closely monitored by the Arsenal medical team. The club will be hoping for a swift return to action for the defender, who has shown promise since joining from Ajax in the summer transfer window.
In the meantime, Arteta will have to assess his defensive options and make any necessary adjustments to ensure that Arsenal can maintain their strong start to the season. The manager will be hoping that Timber’s injury is not too serious and that he can return to action soon to contribute to the team’s success.
