Arteta speaks out on Arsenal fans starting to hate new signing Kai Havertz
Arsenal completed the signing of Kai Havertz from Chelsea in the summer transfer window and Mikel Arteta has spoken out on the fans being unhappy with the new signing.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has addressed the fans’ dissatisfaction with their new signing Kai Havertz, who missed several chances in their recent 2-2 draw with Fulham at the Emirates Stadium. Despite the disappointment, Arteta defended Havertz and highlighted a specific action where he could have made a different decision.
“No I saw an action when he played backwards and he could have turned. That’s more I think the demands of everybody to play forward and to impact the game in the final third because we had the urgency to win.” Mikel Arteta told Football.London.
The Gunners completed the signing of 24-year-old Havertz from Chelsea for a hefty fee of £65 million during the summer transfer window. The German midfielder was expected to make an immediate impact and contribute to Arsenal’s success this season. However, his performance against Fulham left much to be desired.
In the match against Fulham, Arsenal came from behind to take the lead, but were ultimately held to a draw by a resilient 10-man Fulham side. Havertz had numerous opportunities to score but failed to convert any of them. This led to frustration among the fans, who were hoping for a more clinical display from their new signing.
When asked about the fans’ reaction towards Havertz, Arteta acknowledged that there were high expectations for him to make an impact in the final third of the pitch. He pointed out one particular instance where Havertz played backwards instead of turning and taking on his opponent. Arteta believes that this reflects the demands of everyone involved with Arsenal – they want players who are willing to take risks and create scoring opportunities.
Despite this criticism, it is important to note that it is still early days for Havertz at Arsenal. The midfielder needs time to settle into his new surroundings and adapt to Arteta’s tactics. It is unfair to judge him solely based on one match where he struggled to find his rhythm.
Arsenal currently have two wins and one draw in their first three Premier League matches of the season. While they would have hoped for better results against Fulham, it is important for both fans and players alike to remain patient and give Havertz time to prove his worth.
