Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe has expressed his delight at finally getting a start in the team after a long spell on the sidelines. The young midfielder played a crucial role in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Brentford in the Carabao Cup third round on Wednesday, marking his first start in 499 days.

Smith Rowe’s absence from the starting eleven was primarily due to a combination of injuries and poor form. However, he has now opened up about his renewed mindset and determination to make the most of his opportunities.

In an interview with CBS Sports, Smith Rowe revealed that he no longer has doubts about his abilities and is focused on changing his mentality. He stated, “I’ve got to change my mentality just to go for it. I’ve got nothing to lose. I’m trying to change inside me. I used to have a lot of doubts, used to question my confidence at times. Now I’m strong, feeling really fit.”

The young midfielder credited Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for helping him regain his confidence during his injury layoff. Smith Rowe acknowledged that Arteta had been supportive throughout his recovery process and had provided guidance on how to become mentally stronger.

Smith Rowe also expressed gratitude towards those who have supported him both on and off the pitch, including his family, friends, and everyone at the club. He believes that having the right people around him has contributed significantly to his newfound self-belief.

Looking ahead, Smith Rowe is determined to continue working hard and seizing any opportunities that come his way. With Arsenal currently sitting in fifth position on the Premier League table with 14 points, there will be ample chances for him to make an impact.

Arsenal’s next game will see them face Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday. As Smith Rowe continues to build momentum and confidence, fans can expect him to play an increasingly influential role in Arsenal’s quest for success this season.
