Havertz speaks out on the penalty he won for Arsenal in game against Bournemouth
Arsenal received what some have called a controversial penalty kick and Gunners star Kai Havertz has spoken out on this incident.
Arsenal midfielder Kai Havertz has defended the penalty decision that awarded the Gunners a crucial advantage in their 3-0 victory over Bournemouth. The incident occurred late in the first half when Havertz went down in the box under a challenge from Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto, leading to a penalty that Bukayo Saka converted to open the scoring.
“I have not seen the replay but I think he touches me,” Havertz stated to the media after the match. “I felt the contact and I went down. For me, it is a penalty. I said to the goalkeeper he touched me and I think he understood that on the pitch as well!”
The penalty decision proved to be a turning point in the match, as it gave Arsenal the lead just before halftime and set the stage for a dominant second-half performance. While some may question the validity of the penalty, Havertz remains adamant that he felt contact and that the referee made the correct call.
Arsenal will now look forward to their next game which will actually be very important as it will be against Manchester United and the gunners will be happy that the Red Devils are currently in poor form.
