In 2017, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez were Arsenal’s best players in their then squad but the club was put on pressure after the two players went into the final year of their deals at the Emirates Stadium.

Alexis Sanchez made his decision and left Arsenal while Mesut Ozil signed a new deal to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium, the Chilean international went to Manchester United in a swap deal which saw the gunners get Henrikh Mkhitaryan in return. He has however had a tough time at the Old Trafford because he has managed to only get a few goals as a Manchester United player.

Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil used to link up well with each other when they were still together at the Emirates Stadium and Arsenal legend Paul Merson says that the Chilean international must be missing playing with the German playmaker.

“Ozil isn’t going to run around like Sanchez did for Arsenal when he gives the ball away and chases 50 yards back.” Paul Merson told talkSPORT.

“In a way he made Sanchez a better player. The fans loved Sanchez because he would lose the ball but run 30 yards back and tackle. The fans were saying why doesn’t Ozil do that?”

“But Ozil doesn’t do that because he does not give the ball away as many times.”

Analytically, what Paul Merson says about Mesut Ozil is true because the German is a player who always gives accurate passes and he makes a big impact in many matches even though he isn’t good at recovering the ball when the opponent has it, and Alexis Sanchez used to lose the ball many times but was always assurred of receiving many assists from Mesut Ozil.

Arsenal fans have however liked the decline in Alexis Sanchez’s performance when he made a move to Manchester United because they feel that he betrayed them when he left the North London club at a time which they needed him the most.

I just love writing and football so much ever since the 2000's when football got popular in our country. I am a self esteemed person who believes is am always right.
