Mesut Ozil signed a new deal with Arsenal in January, 2018 and the gunners couldn’t have predicted that they would be regretting this decision in 12 months because the German international has failed to have a consistent run of games with good performances ever since then.

Arsenal through their then head coach Unai Emery told Mesut Ozil it was okay for him to leave the club because the Spanish coach believed that his team would be better off without the 31-year-old but the German World Cup winning midfielder refused and managed to outstay the former Paris Saint Germain boss. Ozil has however looked to have a better relationship with Arteta than he had with Emery as he has started all Premier League games under the 37-year-old boss but new reports have revealed what the current stance of the club on the player is.

The ESPN sources say that Arsenal’s stance on Mesut Ozil has remained the same even though he has a great relationship with Mikel Arteta and that the future of the German international is in a lot of uncertainty since he will in a few months enter the final year of his current deal at the Emirates Stadium. The gunners are said to be not interested in offering a new deal to Mesut Ozil because he hasn’t been putting up good performances in the last two years despite being the highest paid player at the club, earning £350,000 a-week wages but the player has however been very consistent in saying that he will finish his contract which ends in 2021.

The report also mentions that the clubs like AC Milan and Fenerbahce who were interested in Mesut Ozil were forced to end their interest in the player because it was impossible for them to be able to pay his wages. Ozil was one of the three players that rejected the pay cuts that the club proposed some time back but the above report confirms that Arsenal’s stance on not wanting to renew his deal isn’t connected to this story.
