Arsenal appointed Mikel Arteta as their new head coach last year and he has been one of the best things to have happened to the club as he proved himself by winning the Emirates FA Cup in his first eight months at the club. Arteta has tried to implement his playing style at Arsenal in his first few months at the club but he hasn’t been successful as some players are not able to execute it.

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta is a very strict manager as revealed by the players and since it has been said that the gunners have given him and Edu Gaspar all the power over transfers then the Spanish coach will probably try to move on players that might not fit the philosophy that he wants to implement at the Emirates Stadium.

1. SOKRATIS PAPASTATHOPOULOS

Arsenal completed the signing of Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund in the 2018 summer transfer window and he had a wonderful first season at the club as he was deemed their best defender in the 2018/19 campaign. Sokratis struggled last season and didn’t seem to fit the playing style of Mikel Arteta as the new Arsenal boss also wanted his centre backs to be very good on the ball.

Sokratis didn’t play that much after the Premier League restarted and only got a few minutes on the pitch against Chelsea at the Emirates FA Cup final. It’s been widely reported that Sokratis has been put on sale because Mikel Arteta feels that the Greek international isn’t in the mould of players he wants at the back as the system he wants to implement at Arsenal requires the centre backs to be quick and good on the ball to progress the play.

2. LUCAS TORREIRA

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira arrived at the North London club in the same transfer window as Sokratis Papastathopoulos and his career at the Emirates has had a similar trajectory to that of the Greek international as his form also dropped off at the start of the 2019/20 campaign. Torreira was not used a lot last season by Emery’s last months at the club due to not being good at the ball and it looks like this could be one of the reasons that see Arteta sell the Uruguayan international.

Arteta prefers playing midfielders that are good on the ball and those that are influential when the team is playing possession football and it looks like Lucas Torreira might not be able to impress in such a team since he is at his best as a destroyer that is always trying to win back the ball for his team. Torreira has been linked with a move back to Italy.
