Arsenal and Ajax are currently in negotiations for the transfer of 22-year-old Jurriën Timber. The player, who primarily plays as a centre back but can also operate as a right back, has expressed his desire to play for Arsenal. The deal is expected to be agreed upon for around €40m-€45m as per Sky reporter. This could set to be Arsenal’s second signing after Kai Havertz ( also yet to be officially announced).

The move has been in the works for weeks, with both clubs keen on securing the services of the talented defender. Timber’s versatility would be a valuable asset to Arsenal, especially with Mikel Arteta’s preference for players who can play multiple positions.

The addition of Jurriën Timber could help bolster Arsenal’s defense and provide them with more options going forward. His ability to play both centre back and right back would give Arteta more flexibility when it comes to team selection.

Timber has been impressive during his time at Ajax, making over 50 appearances for the club since making his debut in 2020. He has also represented the Netherlands at various youth levels and is considered one of the brightest young talents in Dutch football.

If the deal goes through as expected, it will be interesting to see how Timber adapts to life in England and whether he can help Arsenal mount another title challenge next season. With Manchester City looking like they will be strong contenders once again, Arsenal will need all the help they can get if they hope to dethrone the reigning champions.
