Arteta’s Arsenal reportedly willing to sell fan favourite midfielder
Arsenal will be looking to sign and sell players in this summer transfer window and a report has now revealed that the gunners are willing to sell a fan favourite midfielder.
After an impressive season with Arsenal, it seems that Thomas Partey may be on his way out of the club this summer. The Ghanaian midfielder was a key player for the Gunners in the recently concluded season, scoring three goals in the Premier League and helping them to a second-place finish.
However, according to The Telegraph, Arsenal are willing to cash in on Partey if they can find suitable replacements. This news will come as a surprise to many Arsenal fans who had hoped that Partey would be a key player for years to come.
Partey joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in October 2020 for a reported fee of £45 million. He was seen as a major coup for the Gunners and was expected to help them challenge for major honours. While he did show glimpses of his quality throughout the season, he also struggled with injuries and inconsistency.
Despite this, Partey was still one of Arsenal’s best players and his departure would be a blow to Mikel Arteta’s side. The Gunners were in a fierce title race with Manchester City this season but ultimately fell short, finishing five points behind the champions.
Partey’s departure would leave a big hole in Arsenal’s midfield and finding a suitable replacement will be crucial if they are to challenge for major honours next season. There have been rumours linking Arsenal with several midfielders including Yves Bissouma of Brighton and Hove Albion and Ruben Neves of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
It remains to be seen whether or not Partey will leave Arsenal this summer but if he does, it will be interesting to see where he ends up. There is no doubt that he is a talented player and there will be no shortage of suitors for his signature.
For now, Arsenal fans will have to wait and see what happens over the summer transfer window. If Partey does leave, it will be up to Arteta and his team to find a suitable replacement and ensure that the Gunners continue to challenge for major honours.
