BREAKING: Arsenal very close to signing Kai Havertz
Arsenal will be looking to improve on their squad in this summer transfer window and the gunners have chosen Kai Havertz as a perfect target.
Arsenal fans have been eagerly waiting for news on their club’s transfer activities, and it seems that they may finally have something to cheer about. According to reports, Kai Havertz is ‘very close’ to joining Arsenal in a deal that could be worth around €80million.
Havertz is a highly-rated attacking midfielder who has been playing for Chelsea for the past two seasons. He scored seven goals and provided one assist in the Premier League last season, helping his team finish 12th on the league table.
Despite his impressive performances, Havertz has reportedly been looking for a new challenge and Arsenal seems to be his preferred destination as per a Sky reporter. The Gunners have been keeping tabs on him for some time now and are said to be ready to make a move.
Bayern Munich, who were also interested in signing Havertz, have been kept informed of the conditions of the deal but will not make an offer now. This leaves Arsenal as the frontrunners in the race to sign the talented midfielder.
The transfer package being offered by Arsenal is expected to be ‘at least around €80million’ inclusive of add-ons. This is a significant amount of money but it shows how highly Havertz is rated by the Gunners’ management.
If Havertz does join Arsenal, he will be a valuable addition to their squad. The Gunners were in a fierce title race with Manchester City last season but ultimately lost out on the Premier League trophy after losing against Nottingham Forest in their 37th game week.
Despite this setback, Arsenal ended the season with 84 points while Manchester City finished with 89 points. The Gunners had led the league table for 10 months this season but were unable to hold on until the end.
With Havertz in their squad, Arsenal will hope to mount another title challenge next season and finally bring home the Premier League trophy that has eluded them for so long. Fans will be eagerly waiting for confirmation of the deal and will be hoping that Havertz can make an immediate impact at the Emirates Stadium.
