Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has spoken out about his goal in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Nketiah, who scored the opening goal of the match, praised his teammate Gabriel Martinelli for his skillful assist.

Nketiah expressed his relief at securing the win, admitting that the team had a nervy finish to the game. He acknowledged that while they had a strong start and scored two goals early on, Nottingham Forest managed to creep back into the match, particularly in the late stages. However, Nketiah commended Arsenal’s defensive efforts and believed that they deserved all three points.

Speaking specifically about his goal, Nketiah highlighted Martinelli’s contribution. The young Brazilian forward showcased great skill to break through Nottingham Forest’s defense and set up Nketiah for the finish. The striker emphasized the importance of remaining calm in front of goal and credited his successful strike to keeping a cool head. He expressed his happiness that the shot found the back of the net.

Eddie Nketiah on a nervy finish: “Of course. We had a really good start, scored the two goals & obviously they crept back in, especially late on. It was a bit of a nervy finish but I think we defended really well & I think we deserved the three points.” [TNT]

The match itself was an exciting one for Arsenal fans. Bukayo Saka kicked off the new season in spectacular fashion with a stunning goal from just outside the box, doubling Arsenal’s lead before halftime. Nketiah then broke the deadlock with a close-range finish after an impressive turn and pass from Martinelli.

This victory marked Arsenal as one of the clubs to have won their first Premier League game of the season. It was undoubtedly an important result for Mikel Arteta’s side as they look to build momentum early on.
