Arteta makes a strong statement on Jorginho’s mistake that led to Spurs’ second goal
Arsenal were on Sunday held to a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium and Arteta has commented on a mistake of Jorginho leading to them conceding.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has shown his support for Jorginho, despite the mistake that led to Tottenham Hotspur’s equalizer in the North London derby. The match ended in a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium, with both teams unable to find a late winner.
Speaking about Jorginho’s action that resulted in Spurs’ second goal, Arteta said as per Arsenal media, “I love him, and we love him. We all love him. That is a part of football, and they are allowed to make errors because they play. We don’t play and for us it’s really easy, but if there is someone who is there that will help the team and do the most, it’s him. He’s got it, and for Jorgi, we’re all with him.”
Arteta’s words highlight his understanding of the pressures players face on the field and his unwavering support for his team. Despite the disappointment of conceding a goal due to an error, he emphasizes that mistakes are part of the game and players should be allowed to learn from them.
The North London derby saw Arsenal take the lead twice before being pegged back by Tottenham. The Gunners went ahead through an own goal from Romero after Bukayo Saka’s curling effort. However, Son Heung-min equalized for Spurs after calmly finishing from James Maddison’s cutback.
After halftime, Arsenal regained their lead when Saka converted a penalty following Romero’s handball. But once again, Son found the back of the net with an assist from Maddison.
With this draw, Arsenal now sits in fifth position on the Premier League table with 14 points from six league games. While they may have missed out on securing all three points against their rivals, Arteta remains positive about his team’s performance and continues to show faith in his players.
As Arsenal progresses through the season, Arteta’s support for Jorginho will undoubtedly boost the player’s confidence and encourage him to bounce back stronger from any setbacks he may face in future matches.
