Arteta opens up on reports of Arsenal signing Ivan Toney in January transfer window
There has been some reports in the past few hours that the gunners could sign Ivan Toney in the January transfer window and Mikel Arteta has also commented on this for the first time.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has addressed the rumors surrounding a potential striker signing in the upcoming January transfer window. Reports had suggested that the Gunners were interested in acquiring the services of Ivan Toney from Brentford. However, Arteta has made it clear that Arsenal is not currently considering any new additions to their attacking options.
“We’re not thinking at all about that,” Arteta stated when asked about the possibility of signing a new striker. “We have really good players up front. It’s true that now we have some injuries and we’ll continue with the players that we have, that’s for sure.”
The speculation surrounding Toney’s potential move to Arsenal has been fueled by his impressive performances last season. The striker scored 20 goals and provided 4 assists in the Premier League, showcasing his ability to find the back of the net. However, Toney has not been able to feature this season due to a ban imposed on him until January 2024. The ban was a result of him admitting to 232 breaches of Football Association betting rules.
Despite Toney’s availability in January, Arteta seems content with the attacking options he currently has at his disposal.
Arsenal’s decision not to pursue a new striker suggests that Arteta has faith in his current crop of forwards to step up and deliver in the coming months. It will be interesting to see how they fare without a new addition and whether they can maintain a consistent goal-scoring threat.
As the January transfer window approaches, Arsenal fans will be hoping that their team can navigate through this period successfully and continue their positive momentum in the Premier League.
