Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe in the upcoming January transfer window, according to Sky Sports.

The 23-year-old has found playing time hard to come by at the Emirates this season, making only two substitute appearances in the Premier League so far. With Mikel Arteta having a plethora of options in midfield, Smith Rowe has been pushed down the pecking order and is yet to start a game for the Gunners in the league.

However, the promising youngster has caught the eye of Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, who is keen on bringing him to St. James’ Park in January.

Smith Rowe, who is a product of Arsenal’s youth academy, has been highly rated by the club’s coaching staff and has shown glimpses of his potential in his limited appearances in the past few seasons.

Newcastle are hoping to take advantage of this situation and are reportedly ready to make a bid for the talented midfielder. However, it remains to be seen if Arsenal are willing to let go of one of their promising young players, especially with Arteta emphasizing the importance of youth in his squad.

The Gunners have a history of nurturing young talent and may be reluctant to part ways with Smith Rowe. But with the player’s lack of game time at the club, a loan move could be a possibility for both parties.

If the deal goes through, it could be a win-win situation for both Smith Rowe and Newcastle. The midfielder would get valuable playing time at a Premier League club, while the Magpies would add a young and talented player to their squad.

Only time will tell if Newcastle’s reported interest turns into a concrete offer, but one thing is for sure – Emile Smith Rowe has a bright future ahead of him and it will be interesting to see where he ends up in January.
