Arsenal appointed Mikel Arteta as their new head coach in December last year and his first season at the club will officially end on Saturday and then he will now try to shape his squad to his needs through the summer transfer window. It is understood that Arsenal will sell many players and the five players that will be put on the transfer list have been revealed.

Arsenal have struggled a lot in this soon to be completed season as they have ended up finishing eight on the Premier League table and this shows how the North Londoners have had a low quality team this season and so Mikel Arteta will have to sell players to raise funds to bring in those that would fit the philosophy that he wants to implement at the Emirates Stadium.

Highly reliable and respected journalist David Ornstein has revealed that Arsenal through consultation with Mikel Arteta have decided to put Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding up for sale in this summer transfer window as they will try to reduce on the number of centre backs that they have on their books and will be looking to bring in one new centre back. The other two players that will also be put on the list as per Ornstein are Matteo Guendouzi who has fallen out with Arteta after the Brighton scuffle and Lucas Torreira who has failed to win back his spot in his starting eleven.

It does not come as a big surprise that Mikel Arteta would like to get rid of both Sokratis and Mustafi as the Greek international is obviously not suited to playing out of the back while the German international has cost the club for many years and his recent purposes can’t make the club forget that. Holding is however a surprise to many assists most believe he could turn out good for Arsenal and as for Guendouzi, it’s understandable as it’s believed the Frenchman wants to leave while Torreira has also always shown that he is home sick.
